MAPS (Multidimensional Assessment of Preschoolers Study) is a research study being conducted within Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. The primary goal of our investigation is to understand and map the development of behaviors and emotions within 3-, 4- and 5-year old (or preschool-age) children. This is a very exciting period during a young child’s development filled with important milestones, such as learning to cooperate with other children, gaining independence, and learning to cope with difficult emotions. By exploring the underlying processes within this period, we begin to unravel and better understand how behaviors and emotions arise and how they are impacted by a child’s experiences.
